Vocational and Educational Opportunities

New Hampshire

  • Project Search, 603-650-6439
    • Location: DHMC
    • Project SEARCH is an exciting program dedicated to providing education to young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through an innovative workforce and career development model that benefits the individual, workplace and community. The primary goal is for each young adult to build skills that will lead towards competitive employment. The nine month program begins in August and follows the Hartford School calendar. The program is open to young adults who reside in New Hampshire and Vermont.

    • Global Campuses Foundation was formed in 2001 for the purpose of providing advanced learning opportunities for under-served populations worldwide, primarily people with disability. Celebrating ability, GCF reorients the experience of disability as a positive and unique life experience with the pursuit of lifelong learning as a noble goal. The mission of Global Campuses Foundation is to participate with and support persons of differing abilities worldwide as they create, manage and sustain campus environments for advanced learning. Valuing the voice and direction of campus participants is central to its mission. GCF’s educational philosophy and methodologies promote campus members taking ownership and stewardship of their campus. Global Campus participants are the creators and producers of their educational experiences and take on leadership opportunities as faculty, students, and administrative staff.

    • Private Care Services are designed to keep our clients safe, secure and as independent as possible in the homes they love. We strive to provide the superior level of private care our clients deserve and give families the peace of mind and support they need. Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice serves more than 25 towns in the Lake Sunapee, Upper Valley and Connecticut Valley regions of New Hampshire, including Acworth, Andover, Bradford, Canaan, Charlestown, Claremont, Cornish, Croydon, Danbury, Elkins, Enfield, Georges Mills, Goshen, Grafton, Grantham, Hanover, Langdon, Lebanon, Lempster, New London, Newbury, Newport, Plainfield, Salisbury, Springfield, Sunapee, Sutton, Unity, Warner, Washington and Wilmot. Services include: medication management, meal preparation, companionship, transportation and errands, and others.

    • Granite State Independent Living carries out its mission through its Home Care Services, Community-Based Disability Supports and Employment Services. With the help of our local New Hampshire communities, they assist people with tools for living life independently, so they can change their lives for the better. While much has changed over the years, one thing remains the same; GSIL is committed to the principle of personal choice and direction.

Vermont

  • High Horses, 802-356-3386
    • Location: Brookside Farm, 2727 Christian St, Wilder, VT
    • Our riders range in age from 3 to 92, and have a variety of disabilities ranging from autism, cerebral palsy, developmental delays and emotional challenges. Our mission is to bring out the strengths and capabilities of each individual rider, to focus on what our riders CAN do rather than what they cannot. Our trained and professional staff, volunteers, and horses work as a team to provide individualized lessons addressing the physical, emotional, social and cognitive challenges of children and adults with special needs. Each rider's unique strengths and needs are carefully considered. This distinctive experience of acheivement, joy, and community inspires and empowers everyone involved.

National

  • Lisa Stillman, Dental Hygienist
    • Lisa has practiced dental hygiene in Maryland and Virginia and currently has a position specializing in Periodontics. Lisa has also developed an organization called “Dental Voice for Mental Health” that assists mental health care recipients in caring for their oral health with awareness and education. She presents courses to her colleagues, mental health professionals, facilities, advocacy groups, and writes articles to promote oral health for this underserved population. Lisa is featured in the Bipolar Magazine and the Schizophrenia Digest concerning oral health.
